While 2025 seemed to arrive with a bang, the motivation to get to our dreams and accomplish those elusive new year goals may be at half-steam at this point in the year. Starting the year with Mars retrograde in Cancer, our collective energy to do, well much of anything other the curl up in a blanket and watch the crazy movie that seems to be playing out on the world stage, pretty much null. To further complicate things, the fog in our lives is thick! We can’t quite make out what our future looks like and yet we are all experiencing endings arrive, an era closing out, and an unclear future on the horizon. While most of us our familiar with our lives marching on in a particular manor, there no longer is a logical step-by-step progression to things. Revolutions in technology and the way we think and live are happening so rapidly, it’s hard to know what to adapt to, what to let go of, and how our lives will look on the other side of this radical transformation. If these words are resonating with you, it’s because you’re not alone.
You see even if you aren’t aware of the influence of the planetary bodies on our lives, they show up pushing our collective evolution. So, what is the dance of the planets saying now? Well, in large part these influences are still present, but we have a small window that has opened up to start taking action and bringing in some concrete plans for the rest of the year. You see, we finally have all planets in a forward motion(non-retrograde period) until Pluto retrogrades on May, 4th, 2025. While Mars (our drive, ambition and physical body) is just starting to dry out and feel back to itself as it enters Leo it will be met by an immediate opposition to Pluto in Aquarius, forcing to the surface a final transformation in this 3rd and final meeting, during a long-pronounced Mars retrograde that has lasted almost 7 months. After the opposition Mars will regain its confidence and luster with a burst of long-awaited energy, finally giving us the green light to move forward on our revised plans. Venus (the planet of money, values and relationships) has also concluded her retrograde with this month’s full moon on April 12th. While she also remains in a tight conjunction with Saturn and the north node, she is moving forward with the insights she has gleamed as she moved back through the final sign of the zodiac, bringing an end to misaligned relationships and bringing harsh realities about the monetary systems into our awareness. While many astrologers may argue her full movement and energy won’t be felt until she leaves shadow (the degree point in which she initially went retrograde) we are beginning to gain clarity on her our own unique message after her review period and with only a handful of days DURING THE ENTIRE YEAR OF ALL PLANETS BEING DIRECT, it is ripe time to take advantage. This may include a reestablishment or adjustment of your personal values, the way you spend and receive money or energy and a reassessment of what we want to feel in relationship, both personal and professionally.
If some of these words are resonating with you and yet you have little or no understanding of astrology, maybe you even think its “woo-woo”, allow me to suggest here that gaining even a cursory understanding of it will help you to identify opportunities for greater understanding, flow and evolution. Understanding astrological influences allows us to more harmoniously work with the energy that is present. This blueprint gives us a perspective so we can more efficiently understand where the Universe is applying pressure for our evolution, so that we can work with it as an activator or a key that will lead to greater self-knowledge, mastery and soul evolution. Pressures applied pertain to our collective evolution as well as our personal one. Having a basic understanding of an astrological chart, including the big 3 and your soul’s current life purpose will help you immensely as you navigate through life’s decisions and the magnitude of 2025. When we engage with astrology from the viewpoint of gaining deeper self-understanding, it opens up huge ‘ahh moments’ in both the recognition of our unique design and also the understanding that we are all wired with a unique combination of influences that form our way of being foundationally, prior to any environmental conditioning. This understanding can aid our relationships as we better understand our own needs and those of others. Often, we falsely assume that others think the way we do, but even a cursory understanding of astrology helps us to clearly understand that others’ ways of experiencing and interacting with life can be drastically different then our own. It allows us to approach everything from how we communicate, to how we receive from others, to come from a more intelligent, empathetic and understanding viewpoint. These glimpses and understanding come from your natal chart, basically a picture of the sky at the time of your birth. While an understanding of the current influences of the planets in the sky in the moment are known as transits. Transits influence you personally through their interaction with your natal chart and their placement in the astrological wheel, which are divided into “houses” or areas of life focus. So, while the general information I shared above about it being “go” time until May 4th pertains to the collective, your unique natal chart will lend more personalized understanding of the areas of your life being most activated.
Another helpful aspect of learning the basics of astrology is that it allows you to give yourself more GRACE! Something most of us could use a large serving of. While our western society has conditioned us to be producing, always accomplishing and in forward movement at all times, we can see that nature in all its forms, including the planetary bodies, doesn’t function this way. When we understand what the natural rhythms of life are asking from us, planetary or otherwise, we can soften into a cadence that complements our evolution and harmonizes us. We find flow states more naturally, accomplishing more with less. Less force and less time. We find more space and time for the parts of ourselves that have been pushed out or not nurtured because they seemed too time consuming, silly or without financial reward. In this way, astrology can be another tool in our awareness practices that help us take a zoomed-out perspective on our lives and how we would like them to progress, working with our nature rather than against it.
So how will you use the next 10 days to activate your unique template and a soul plan that will provide you the focus and determination to stay on the path, when things start to feel heavy or confusing? I encourage you to take space for yourself over the next couple weeks to really take all that has arisen and been reflected to you through the first few months of 2025, and integrate it into a plan that prioritizes these insights. Habits become the backbone of everyday life and are the substance which crafts what we ultimately become, but how often do we evaluate and alter these habits to make sure they align with where we are going? So often our daily rituals are just that, habits that arose out of laziness or a lack of understanding of how they are helping or hurting us. Retrogrades, like those we just experienced in the personal planets of Mars and Venus, allow us that valuable reassessment space, so we can stop doing what isn’t working. NOW is that time to gather that information and enact new, more aligned patterns that will serve as bumper rails keeping us on track as we move towards our destination.
